When you download Windows from the Microsoft Store, you have two options: You can download a compilation of compressed files or an ISO file. The ISO file combines all the Windows installation files into one uncompressed file. If you choose to download an ISO file to create a bootable file from a DVD or USB disk, copy the Windows ISO file to your disk and then run the Windows USB/DVD Download Tool. Then install Windows directly from your USB or DVD drive to your computer.

When you download the ISO file, you need to copy it to a USB or DVD. When you’re ready to install Windows, you insert the USB drive or DVD that contains the ISO file, and then run Setup.exe from the root folder on the drive. This allows you to install Windows on your computer without having to run the current operating system first.
